Reflections of a World War II POW
Reflections
of a World War II POW:
Bernard
Rader
WEDNESDAY,
NOVEMBER 8, 2 P.M.
Come get a
glimpse of Bernie's experience as a POW in World War II. On October 1933, as a
19-year-old, Pfc. Bernard Rader was part of a 55-man patrol deployed into
Lorrient, Brittany. They were ambushed by the Germans, and after a six-hour
battle with machine guns, grenades, and mortars they were forced to surrender.

Freeport Memorial Day Observance & Parade Orders
On Monday, May 25, 2015, the Village of Freeport and the various Veterans and Civic groups will conduct a Memorial Day Parade and Service. We would be most grateful if your group or civic organization would attend the Parade and Service.
The Parade will start at Freeport High School on Brookside Avenue promptly at 10:00 am.
The Parade will conclude at Freeport Memorial Library where the Observance and Program will take place.
This year’s Parade and Observance honors the
70th Anniversary of WWII and some surviving Veterans of that world
changing conflict. Participating will be
Freeport Village Administration including Mayor Kennedy and the Nassau County
Sheriff’s Honor Guard.
If your organization has not contacted the Parade Committee please
