Recovery Information for Hurricane Sandy


Here are some emergency numbers and emergency information to help in the recovery of those who are in need...


Dear Neighbor:
       As our community continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy, I wanted to remind you about services that are available to help.
       New York State Department of Financial Services Hurricane Sandy Response Centers:
  • 225 Fox Boulevard, Merrick, open 9 am to 5 pm until further notice (rear parking lot of the Merrick Jewish Centre)
  • Massapequa Park Village Hall (151 Front Street, Massapequa Park) open 9 am to 5 pm through Friday, November 16th.
  • You can also receive assistance from the Department of Financial Services by calling their insurance disaster assistance helpline at 1-800-339-1759.
       FEMA Disaster Recovery Center:
  • Nassau Community College (1 Education Drive, Garden City), open 8 am to 8 pm until further notice.
  • Lindenhurst Library (1 Lee Avenue, Lindenhurst), open 9 am to 8 pm until further notice.
  • You can also receive assistance from FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.
      LIPA Community Information Center:
  • Cedar Creek Park (Merrick Road, Seaford, east of Wantagh Avenue), open 7 am to 7 pm until further notice, according to LIPA.
      Nassau County Recovery Center:
  • Cedar Creek Park (Merrick Road, Seaford, east of Wantagh Avenue). Services include:
    • FEMA Registration Center (available 8 am to 8 pm)
    • Insurance response center, with New York State Department of Financial Services as well as private insurance carriers including AllState, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, MetLife, Nationwide, State Farm, Travelers, & USAA offering assistance (available 8 am to 8 pm)
    • Red Cross Meal Distribution Center (available 11 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm)
    • Free showers, washers, and dryers (available 9 am to 6 pm)
